“Benson’s intuitive use of color and composition is truly remarkable. His work is bold and fresh; and exhibits a spontaneity shared by many of our finest artists. For future investment potential and for sheer artistry, Benson Simmonds is a name worth remembering.”

Vancouver, Canada
Benson Simmonds is a true renaissance man, accomplished in many artistic disciplines. In addition to being an extremely well-received and well-collected painter, Benson is also an award-winning Canadian actor, and an award-nominated writer and filmmaker. As an actor he has appeared in film and on T.V. as guest star on such shows as Stargate SG1 and Supernatural as well as playing leading roles in Canadian films and in theatre including off-Broadway New York. He’s co-written plays and books and ran a prominent Canadian acting school for 10 years.
Inspired by such artists as Motherwell, Pollock, Kandinsky and the New York artists of the 40s and fifties, Benson first began painting and selling his artwork on the streets of New York 15 years ago.
Benson is completely self-taught and like Anthony Qunin, Dennis hopper and other well-known actor/painters, he continued to develop his artistry while working as a successful actor. He’s been selling his work to serious collectors across the United States and Canada for the past ten years. Benson had two completely sold out shows at Studio West Tenth in Vancouver Canada, selling nationwide and quickly becoming one of the most sought after emerging artists in the city. His work has also been exhibited at the Aion Gallery, Romanoff Gallery and Momentum (currently the Winsor Gallery). At his last group show, his piece, “A New world of Certainty Emerging” was chosen for the coveted front window at the Art Center Gallery in Vancouver, BC.
Benson is pleased to be presenting his first solo show in Los Angeles in conjunction with For the Child. He is dedicated to inspiring others through his art to “take risks and step beyond your comfort zone...into the world of unlimited possibilities”.
