MOBILE UNIT DRIVERS
For The Child operates a 36’ mobile unit (a specially-equipped Winnebago motor home) in order to provide counseling and psychological therapy to children at their schools. Volunteer drivers are needed to take the motor home to its scheduled school site in a morning and return it to For The Child in the afternoon. Transportation between the school site and For The Child before/after delivery of the unit is provided.
How do I qualify to be a volunteer Mobile Unit Driver?
- A potential volunteer must be interviewed and complete a screening process (fingerprinting, DMV, referrals) before operating the mobile.
- Have experience driving a motor vehicle of a similar size--perhaps a motor home or a truck or other equipment. Have a valid license and clear DMV record. Have insurance coverage. You also will be covered by For The Child’s Insurance.
- Pass a test drive with the staff member in charge of the mobile.
- Be able to give an hour or two in the morning or afternoon that you select on a regular schedule.
