News – Child Abuse Response Team Volunteers Needed

If you are looking for volunteer opportunity where you can make a difference, consider becoming a CART child advocate.

What do CART Volunteers Do?

CART is a group of dedicated volunteers who respond to emergency calls when a young child (0-14 years of age) may have been sexually assaulted. The volunteer meets the child and family at one of the hospitals served by For The Child in Long Beach, San Pedro or Torrance, to serve as the child’s advocate on the Sexual Assault Response Team. Volunteers accompany the child at the forensic medical exam, help parents and caregivers cope with what has happened, and help comfort the child while waiting for the police interview and medical examiner.
